The most important thing to bring is billing information. If we are billing your insurance, bring your insurance card. If you were referred by your physician, bring your referral with payment information. If your situation involves Worker’s Compensation, we need your claim number and case manager’s contact information.

You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. This will help us reach the injured area for treatment and evaluation while not sacrificing your comfort and privacy.

You should plan for sessions to last from between 30 to 60 minutes each.

Physical therapists are experts at treating injuries that restrict movement and neuro-musculoskeletal disorders. Pain resulting from accidents, injuries, a lifetime of poor posture, and degenerative conditions are often accompanied by a movement disorder. This is often treatable without the need for medications. By addressing the root cause of your limitations, physical therapists can often help correct the disorder and relieve the pain.

Because physical therapists are experts in movement and function, a large part of their programs are directed at the recovering and prevention of ongoing injury, or loss of movement that otherwise might require surgery. The cornerstones of physical therapy treatments are therapeutic exercise and functional training. However, in addition to “hands-on” care, physical therapists also educate patients on how to maintain their health, with the goal of having them lead pain-free lives, independent of the need for ongoing treatments.

Physical therapists may also employ a combination of other treatment methods, such as ultrasound, hot packs, ice, therapeutic massage, neuromuscular work, and hydrotherapy.

Physical therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment that helps you recover from injury and prevent further damage. Physical therapy can help restore and strengthen the ability to maintain properly aligned posture, move your appendages and other body parts, and ultimately perform all sorts of tasks and activities among other things. All of these activities require a healthy musculoskeletal system (muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones) to move properly without difficulty or pain. Participation in physical therapy can help provide that.

This depends on a number of factors including the type of injury, physical impairments, medical history, physical condition, age, etc. You will participate in an initial evaluation where a plan will be developed to include the desired frequency of visits (how many times per week) and duration of the treatment (how many weeks). Your therapist will be continually evaluating your progress so that your treatment schedule can be adjusted as needed.

The majority of new patients are referred to physical therapy due to a movement difficulty or dysfunction that causes pain. Almost any difficulty moving a body part can affect your ability to complete daily activities. Physical therapists provide treatment to help you recover your ability to move without experiencing pain.

In most cases, health insurance will cover your treatment. Check with your provider or speak with one of our staff members to determine your coverage and how the costs will need to be handled.

One of our highly trained physical therapists will evaluate you, and they will typically work with you throughout your treatment. We believe that the one-on-one relationship will help you receive top-quality care. Your therapist will understand you and your condition, leading to them knowing how to best help out.

While one of the ultimate goals of physical therapy is pain relief, it sometimes can be painful working through some of the exercises, especially after major operations. Make sure to notify your physical therapist if this is the case.

We do offer a variety of options to treat injuries including electrical stimulation, heat/cold therapy, and hands-on techniques. Your physical therapist will know what techniques will be best to help you recover your movement and motion, and also relieve pain.

As previously noted, there are a variety of techniques used in our facilities. Our physical therapists are trained to administer deep-tissue massages if needed in the rehabilitation process. Massages assist in relieving tension, reducing pain, and allowing for healthy blood flow.

Some patients will need to continue to do home exercises once their treatments conclude. Others will be able to go back to their normal daily activities. This all depends on your condition and injury, and how your body responds to the treatment. Communicating with your therapist will allow them to customize the treatment to achieve your goals.
